Spend a
day in the neighborhoods discovering the contributions made by Chicago’s various
ethnic groups through
folk arts, museums,
foods, shops, religious architecture and ornamentation and traditions that
enrich us all.
We begin the day
at one of Chicago’s Italian Family Bakeries. Enjoy coffee and
freshly baked specialties.
We next visit the Jane Addams Hull House
Museum.
Admire the 1856 country house that became world famous
during
her 35 year career, and the work that
continues today in Chicago
neighborhoods.
On to the Chinatown neighborhood to tour
and enjoy an included lunch.
We next
head to the Mexican Fine Arts Center in Pilsen. The combination museum, school, gallery
“Mercado” and community resource
center showcase the talented artist from Chicago, Mexico, and Latin America.
The surrounding neighborhood is an outdoor gallery for the Mural Arts movement in Chicago.
Our last
stop is the remarkable Ukrainian Church in the heart of the near west side
Ukrainian Village.
Decorated in 24KT gold Icons, the
Byzantine style church observes the eastern rite of the Catholic Church.
The
surrounding community is a treasure of art galleries, a
newspaper museum, community center and import shops.
