The plot involves con man "Professor"
Harold Hill, who poses as a band organizer and leader.
He sells his revolutionary music program,band instruments and uniforms to naive
townsfolk before skipping town with their cash.
In River City, Iowa prim librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo sees through
him.
However, her impression changes when Hill helps her younger brother overcome his
fear of social interactions due to his lisp.
But now she wonders...Will he take the money and run??
