Daily Itinerary

Experience one of the most fascinating cities in the world, Beijing . Over the next several days, we will discover the beauty and intrigue of this ancient culture.

 Day 3: Tues., Nov.09, 2010                          Beijing                                                  Pandas     
Language Discovery:« Today, our Tour Manager will help us discover the origin and history of the language we will experience on our tour along with 
key words and phrases that will help us communicate with the locals. Our journey begins in Beijing , the capital of the People’s Republic of China,
with a morning visit to the Summer Palace, which is ranked among the most noted classical gardens in the world. In 1998, it was listed as a World Heritage 
site by UNESCO. Our afternoon includes a visit to the Beijing
Zoo, home of the famous pandas. See the new habitat that has been created for
those pandas rescued from the earthquake region who are now happily residing in their new home!« Tonight, a traditional dumpling dinner.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.
 Day 4: Wed., Nov. 10, 2010      Beijing               Tiananmen Square           Forbidden City       
Begin the day with a visit to the famous site of Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world. Next, visit the Forbidden City , a vast network of
palaces including five halls, seventeen palaces and numerous other rooms & buildings which have been home to 24 Chinese Emperors over 491 years. This
evening we will be treated to a dinner featuring Peking Duck, followed by a colorful performance of the Peking Opera.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

 Day 5: Thurs., Nov. 11, 2010               The Great Wall        The Bird’s Nest
No visit to China would be complete without seeing The Great Wall, one of the new 7 Wonders of the World! Behold this awesome site and have the 
chance to walk along a portion of this 3,700-mile marvel. Travel through the Valley of the Ming Tombs where we’ll walk along the Sacred Way, 
or Divine Road
, which means “the road leading to heaven. Feel the excitement of the 2008 Summer Olympics during a visit to the Olympic Green.
 We will have the opportunity to take photos of two famous structures - the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube! Today breakfast, lunch and dinner included.  

 Day 6: Fri., Nov. 12, 2010                                                               Explore Beijing
Today is at leisure to explore this fascinating, constantly changing city independently. Our Tour Manager will be on hand to offer suggestions on how
best to spend your day! Today breakfast will be included.

 Day 7: Sat., Nov. 13, 2010                 Explore Beijing            
Enjoy a full day of leisure to relax or independently explore this wonderful city. You may take an optional tour to Xian*, which includes a visit to the
Terra-Cotta
Warriors Museum
. Today breakfast will be included.
 
 Day 8: Sun., Nov. 14, 2010       Beijing            Temple of Heaven  Rickshaw tour  
This morning we’ll visit the Temple of Heaven  where the emperor came twice each year to thank the gods for the good harvest and pray for the new harvest.
We will also see the locals doing their morning Tai Chi exercises, playing cards or board games. Afterwards, experience ancient Beijing on a traditional
rickshaw tour through its narrow streets and alleys. With help from an interpreter, we will learn about a local family’s history and way of life when we share
lunch with them in their Hutong home. They will also teach us the art of traditional dumpling making! Next, visit with a kite master and learn the history of the favorite pastime of many locals. During our visit, enjoy a traditional tea ceremony. This evening, join our fellow travelers for a farewell dinner.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

 Day 9: Monday, November 15, 2010                                                                Beijing - Indianapolis  
     
Our tour ends in Beijing . On the return flight home we will cross the International Dateline. Today breakfast will be included.  

 $250.00 per person deposit is due within 7 days after reservations are booked.  Due to the requirements of the airline and tour company, full payment is
due by September 7, 2010.  Trip insurance is available for an additional $150.00 per person.  Roundtrip transportation from Lafayette to Indianapolis  
may be available for an additional $45.00 per person. Our group space is only on hold until June 6, 2010.  Please book your reservations prior to this 
date  to secure space with our group.  Any reservations made after that date are subject to availability.  

*Optional Xian Full Day Tour  $499 USD per person.  Option includes round trip airfare, lunch and extensive sightseeing. Your full day of leisure in Beijing , you may purchase our option to fly to the former capital of China for an once-in-a-lifetime experience. You will visit the excavation site of the famed  site of the famed  Terra Cotta Warriors and horses. In 1974, the Terra Cotta Warriors were discovered accidentally by a group of workers who were working on a well. It was determined that the Terra Cotta Warriors (and their horses) belonged to Emperor Qin Shi Huang who ruled during the Qin Dynasty from 211 - 206 B. C. and were created to protect the mausoleum of the emperor in the afterlife. This option must be booked 45 days prior to departure.  This option is non-refundable within 45 days of departure and is not covered by the Waiver if cancelled within 45 days of departure.
